In Tibetan Buddhism, Maitreya is the future Buddha, a bodhisattva at present who lives in Tushita heaven. In the future, due to the increasing of the delusions, the beings of this world will degenerate and the teachings of Gautama Buddha will decline, then Maitreya Buddha will manifest in the form of a great spiritual leader and will show the way of virtue. In particular He will give teachings about loving kindness and as a result, the fortune of the humans of this world will begin to improve: gradually they will abandon their deceptive beliefs and their harmful behaviour and their lives span will begin to increase.
